The students from South-East Asia, except Taiwan and Hongkong (Where Baduk is already boomed and the economy is good) get a full scholarship. Other international undergraduate students receive a 70% scholarship off the usual tuition which is about 4.500.000 Won per semester. There is also a registration fee of 120.000 and an admissions Fee of 850,000 Won, which you pay once at admission. Please check the exact costs at the Myongji-website (see below).
Every semester the fee is increasing a bit, but more or less you can count like this:
registration fee 120.000 KRW
admission fee 850.000 KRW
study fee per semester 8 x 1.350.000=10.800.000 KRW or
study fee per semester 4 x 1.350.000=5.400.000 KRW.
So, all together it's about 6.400.000 KRW for 2 years of the Bachelor course and 11.800.000 KRW for 4 years of the Bachelor course.
There are special rules for increasing and decreasing the scholarship. The best 3 foreigners get 1.000.000/500.000/300.000 Won in the beginning of the next semester. If a student got F in Major (i.e. failed a Baduk class), the scholarship will be cut down to 30%. If anybody neglects every course, it will be cut down to nothing. |
